Ian and I have enjoyed a pretty crazy run of daily music Kickstarter analysis for the last several months. As a matter of fact, we just completed our 100th music Kickstarter profile. Break out the Scotch!
It’s Time We Give You a Glimpse Into the Future
Our understanding of how artists can
raise funds with crowdfunding has gone from a general list of ideas and assumptions (like the assumptions most people who’ve done one or two crowdfunding projects have) to a completely honed and darn near perfected approach for dominating your band’s crowdfunding campaign.
Here are some of the most common myths we were able to prove wrong…
Music Crowdfunding Myths
- Your video needs to ROCK
- You need a mailing list
- You need to have fans
- You need to use social media
- Your description and rewards need to be perfectly formatted
- Your music needs to be awesome (and you need to prove it in your video)
- You HAVE to have a flex goal
- You need to have EXCITING and CREATIVE rewards
- People need to share your project!
- You need to post tons of updates to keep people involved!
- Strangers are a credible source of pledges for your campaign
The thing is, these can all be assets to your project, but none of them can cause your project to fail. Everyone’s situation is unique so we’re working on ways that anyone can approach a music crowdfunding campaign and optimize the outcome by systematically assessing your unique situation.
We’ve pin pointed the 20% of things you should do that get 80% of the results.
All in all, we’ve found that there are several layers of depth to the art of music crowdfunding. We’ve pin pointed the 20% of things you should do that get 80% of the results.
On top of that, we’ve compiled our own list of things you can do to fine tune your project to squeeze every last dollar of potential out.
So You’ve Conquered Music Crowdfunding. Does That Mean You’re Done?
We’re absolutely not going to stop here. We’ve only just begun. The whole reason we wanted to analyze 100 Music Kickstarters was to go so entirely over the top with data, interviews, and project analysis that there would be no question about the power of our findings.
But this first 100 project reviews only made us more hungry for knowledge and to be honest, your response has been so damn overwhelming that we simply can’t stop.
Within just a couple months this site has seen a swell of new visitors which tells us that what we’re doing seems to be quite helpful for you.
Our Future Ideas for You
We will continue our music Kickstarter analysis on a regular basis, but we’ll be assessing projects from other platforms like Indiegogo, Pledge Music, and RocketHub plus other ideas that compliment music crowdfunding.
We’ll be doing mash ups of data we’ve collected and we’ll connect the dots and find common recurring themes between the crowdfunding projects we’ve reviewed.
Our focus will always be on actionable takeaways and concrete examples that you can get inspiration from and re-imagine for your own use.
What you WON’T find here is shallow social media tips or rants about the state of the music industry. We’re sick of that shit:)
But most of all…
…we like to see artists like you making just one more record and putting it out into the world for your family, friends, fans and future generations to enjoy. It’s your art. Your creativity. Your purpose. It would be a shame if it didn’t see the light of day.
45% of all music crowdfunding projects fail. Don’t be a 45er. Keep reading launchandrelease.com.

So are we!!! It’s been a busy, exciting but anxious last 6 months. We’re super close now, a little behind the initial schedule but moving forwards quickly.
Fingers, toes and other appendages crossed, we’ll be good to go next month.
Thanks for the support guys. Love your work.
