As an artist, how do you take your challenge and coalesce it into your fans’ actions? Lisa Scinta knows. And her Kickstarter project description is a masterful example of how to do this.
Lisa has cultivated a significant online following (over 95,000 Youtube subs) by posting videos of her musical performances… each one filmed in a bathroom! With a Circle of Influence that large, she has a lot of leverage with which to reach her funding goal for her debut album. So, how does she move a YouTube fan to being a Kickstarter Backer? Read on to find out…

CONNECT TO THE FANS RIGHT OFF THE BAT
Other than the predominant video placeholder, the very first thing you notice on a Kickstarter is the project description tag line. Lisa capitalizes on this by reaching out to make a connection right away:
I believe what I do can transcend genres and reach out to anyone and everyone who needs music as a positive influence in their lives.
Not only is this OBVIOUSLY a potential connection point right away, but it also sets up the challenge that is to come.
INVITE THEM INTO THE CLUB
The heart of the project description is her, uh, heart.
Okay, really loose and vague references to Tommy Boy aside, Lisa puts herself out there in the first few sentences. Look at the way she does this:
“For those of you who know me”… you are already in the club.
For those of you who don’t know her… you do after 3 sentences. You are now also in the club.
This is a big part of what she does, just you wait and see!
CALL THE CLUB TO ACTION
The legwork is done. Lisa has shared herself and offered a connection point to readers and she has welcomed them into her club. The last step is obvious ~ the good ol’ Call To Action!
- Help us break out of the YouTube world
- spread my music farther than ever
- be there for this new beginning
- help me get my melodies and lyrics into every head and every heart we possible can
Okay! Sign me up! That is a load of inspirations that I can now participate in.
THE TAKEAWAY
I hope you have been following along here because this is such a great example of taking readers from start to finish:
- Personal Connection
- Invitation
- Call To Action
If you are thinking about employing this approach (and you should be, using your own personality and unique take), there is ONE thing you can do to take this over the top: hammer home the action you desire.
In this case, it would go directly after “help me get my melodies and lyrics into every head and heart we possibly can!!” by adding something along the lines of “Choose one of the rewards packages to the right and become a backer today.”
Do this – aligning your video and rewards with the notion – and your Kickstarter will be a great landing page that leads your readers exactly where you want them to go.
