Brits may be a bit more reserved than your average American but it does appear that they are less shy!
Case in point: London-based band Playmaker.
These gents put together a Kickstarter project whose singular purpose seems to lie in getting viewers to back their project.

ONE BIG CALL TO ACTION
Before we go any further, can I ask you to please understand that this entire post has been written with an English accent. It will just make the reading all the better…
From the moment you come, until the moment you leave, you are invited to participate in this process.
A Cheeky Video Asking For Help
This little video is short and sweet.
And might I add that I had an incredibly difficult time finding my point to write about with it because I was just so darned entertained by everything. Their accents, their choice of words, the sort of creepy lighting that looks like it came straight from Willy Wonka…
I would find that 30 seconds of the video had passed and I had NO IDEA what was said!
And it kept happening.
Over and over…
I bet I have watched this video about 30 times, a record; good thing it is short!
And it HAMMERS on the Call To Action.
- We need your help
- We’d like to ask a big favor of you
- We need your help to make our album
- There’s loads of ways to help
- Here’s what you do
- We’ll love you forever and you’ll be helping us to create something very special
But, just in case you didn’t get the point from the video, just take a look through the project description for reinforcement…
The Project Description Asking For Help
“Story line” (below the video): Playmaker need your help to fund their debut album…
Heading: Playmaker are looking for help to produce and press their debut album!
First paragraph: We are looking for…
Second paragraph: There are lots of ways to help..you can…
Third paragraph: Please have a look… we would love to have you on board…
Images in the Project Description
I would just like to point out the use of images: T-shirts, guitar picks, pictures of their flippin’ cute little nephews…
Remember, images increase readability and conversion rates (conversion is when viewers “convert” to buyers).
I like their shirts. I wouldn’t have known that without a picture. If I was a fan, I would pledge for a shirt.

THE TAKEAWAY
Playmaker does a bang-up job with their Call To Action. The awesome thing is that it doesn’t feel overdone. It doesn’t feel pushy. And these guys are sincere.
If you are planning your Kickstarter right now, this is a great example of crafting your Call To Action. You would be well served to also work in your artistic vision and purpose worth backing but when it comes to action, you can learn from these guys.

Hey guys, it’s Matt from Playmaker here (I’m on the left in the Kickstarter video!). I just stumbled upon your review of our Kickstarter campaign – great writeup and very interesting to read someone else’s take on what we did. Let me know if you still want a T-shirt, I’m sure we can get one out to you 🙂
